Frequently asked questions

What is the lifespan of the BorderStyle Route® product?
Minimum 10 years.
What is the minimum radius that can be made with a BorderStyle Route®?
The minimum radius varies depending on the height and thickness of your road border. For 40 mm heights, the radius by hand is 1 meter, versus 1.5 m for 120 mm profiles.
In an driveway arrangement, on which side should the “L” return of the aluminum edging be placed?
When installing a BorderStyle Route® aluminum plank on an alley, always place the “L” return of the edging on the hard surface side. BorderStyle Route® borders are delivered with junction stiffeners and 25 cm spiral nails for ground fixation. Optional corners are available.
What are the main characteristics of this BorderStyle Route®?
- Resistant to high-intensity use - Ideal for mixing soft and hard soils, as shown by the architect’s design - Best design for straight lines and curves (can be hand-formed) - Better against corrosion from sea salt - Long-term solution thanks to aluminum (guaranteed for decades) - Mechanical joints + dedicated corners available depending on the border height - Time-saving: due to its design, one product can cover all needs, so the installation team will be faster than with other materials (concrete borders, wooden planks…) - Installation speed up to 30 m/hour of aluminum edging
In the case of a gravel or unpaved alley, should a gap be left between 2 BorderStyle Route® aluminum planks to allow for an expansion joint?
Whether for cold or hot-laid surfaces (e.g., asphalt), it is mandatory to leave a 4–5 mm gap between each 2.5 m length to allow for thermal expansion.
